Most poets write about love and broken hearts.  This is a poem about love, but of a different kind.  I hope you like it.

             A Puppy's Smile

Have you ever seen a puppy smile,
eyes sparkling and a grin from ear to ear?
A puppy is loyal - just like the sky of blue,
he walks behind you like paper and glue.

A dog cookie, scratch on the snout or,
let him lay his head on your knee.
A tiny morsel of this or that,
and he will be as happy as can be.

He will be your friend for as long as he lives.
He doesn't talk back, gives 100% and will always forgive.
You won't get a call in the middle of the night -
"This is the police calling", making your hair stand
  up straight from fright.

So when he makes a "mistake" on the kitchen floor,
take him outside and lay down the law.
Show him who is boss and then wait a while -
for in a few minutes he will come to you with
                A big puppy smile.

Oh there's nothing like a puppy, unless it's a child or a kitten or a baby bunny or any of the tiny helpless grateful and faithful little beings.  Joyce

Greeneyes:  Thank you for your smile - it made my day -  and for stopping by.

Wynter:  Mistakes are mistakes whether puppies or cats make them.  You are lucky  if your cat doesn't have any.  Thanks for dropping in.

Joyce:   I couldn't agree with you more - there isn't anything like a baby ______.  I love all babies whether they are animals or humans.  Maybe it is because you know that they are depending completely on you to live.  It must be the feeling of being needed.  Thanks for stopping by.

I can't help but to smile after reading your poem.  My pup is laying on my lap, just to be near me. Where are those puppy treats? LP

For those who believed in me -
I send my love.

Ariana - you are very gentle with your words. Well done, as I knew you could always write. Keep writing and expressing, your thoughts come through, and are felt.

This really brought a smile to my face - I breed small dogs and I know exactly what you mean except, I have several little smiles following me around.  Exceptional writing.  I shall make a copy of it and keep it in my kennel.

You've got me smiling ear to ear Ariana, thank you for this sweet adorable read. My whole love has been around these wonderful puppy smiles, and I simply wouldn't know what to do without that in my life. Much enjoyed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

I've had dogs all my life and one of the two we have now started smiling as a puppy and is still doing it as a grownup (6 years) whenever she is happy or when she's done something she shouldn't have. I've made a little book in rhyme of there adventures during the first two years.

Lovely poem.

who is, as i speak looking at me like "MOTHER i want to go OUTSIDE, dont you even want to pet me? im even wagging my tail!"

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

Titia:   Thank you for your reply and I am happy that you have a smiling pup too. They really know how to make your day joyful.

Oh.......this is simply wonderful!!!! How I love the way you described just about every puppy in the world.  I wonder, why can't people have that kind of love and devotion?
Great job, Ariana.......and a refreshing change from the usual!!!!!

Live...Love...Be grateful for both!!
