Run Around.....from #10

Run with me around,
around the plum tree and through the fence
into the vacant lot
across the tall grass…

I will hide my laughter
in a walnut and throw it,
throw it across the asphalt,
and who I am
will bounce and break
across my future,
my breath the rocket
catapulting the days where love blooms
and children hold my skirt,

into the garden with the rake of commitment
you and I.

Don’t tell me of the girl,
the one with blue eyes,
the one with long blond hair,
or the mornings of mourning
when the sun didn’t ever come up
and light was just a shadow
and you were lost in it
in a place you made
to keep me out.

Don’t tell me forever
or touch my face
like listening wind,
if you had to clean the plate
of all the sunny side ups
I would still see the mashed potatoes
and the broken dish
laying against the cold floor
of broken promises.

Tell me my eyes are jewels
and you will wear them while you can,
you will tuck them inside your shirt
and if you should want to hold me
I will touch your heart there
and all the fine pieces of us
will break into tomorrow,
for it isn’t easy, is it
to lay out the future
and the path winds,
it winds
sometimes to no where.

your eyes ARE jewels that see with poetic vision!!

"I will touch your heart there

see....I rest my case
me

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

Martie~
I felt the sadness of some memories ...

'and the path winds,
it winds
sometimes to no where.'

... yet mixed with the ink of the beauty in your pen

'I will hide my laughter
in a walnut and throw it,
throw it across the asphalt,
and who I am
will bounce and break
across my future,
my breath the rocket
catapulting the days where love blooms
and children hold my skirt,

into the garden with the rake of commitment
you and I.'

Love n'*hugs*
~*Marge*~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

Martie,

As usual, well written and full of what you do best...imagery. :-) Sorry, couldn't resist. Good work.

or the mornings of mourning

and light was just a shadow

in a place you made
to keep me out.

I kept copying my favorite portions... and then realized I'd just repeated your entire poem. *S* "mornings of mourning"... What an incredible phrase... what a tough phase to get through so that laying out the future becomes possible, even if never easy. This is stunning, Martie!
