“GYPSY QUEEN”
by
Bill Charles
~~~~
She was a gypsy woman, with silky coal black hair,
green eyes instead of dark,
and skin somewhat fair…
Wanted someone that would care, and to love,
but no matter, a true blood and sweet,
as a dove…
Lovely and gracious she is, any man would want,
and when she looked at you,
her piercing eyes would haunt…
She had a lonely but gracious heart, that was warm,
and would dance all through the night,
into the early dawn…
As she danced to the roaring fire, that lit up the sky,
into camp came a gypsy king,
and caught her eye…
The flames leaped into the heavens, as she twirled,
with dress to her hips, and arms stretched out,
but curled…
They danced together, into the softness of the night,
holding, and staring at each other,
until a love they found, pristine…
He placed her on his horse, and they rode off into the sunrise,
this lonely gypsy woman, and the king,
for she, would be his queen…
BC
Very nicely done.  Your imagery is great and I can picture the king coming in and sweeping her off her feet.
I loved this Bill...and it's a tricky thing dancing by the fire in those swirling skirts!   Artfully descriptive BC!
Very lyrical content with a fairy tale quality I like very much, great imagery too. Thanks for sharing.
Oh Bill, how true to your words, sent chills
in me, as I read each and every word. The gypsy in me, is still seeking her teacher steadfast -- upon her white horse.  I loved the part where he carries her off, to sweet oblivion. Forgive my misspelling, I running amuck, I look forward to your writings.LP
Sounds superb to me... Does she have to have dark hair though???... Sandy blondish... hazel eyes... geesh... All gypsies aren't dark, are they???... Yep - The rest is super...
I thought about this piece all morning.
Here's the inspiration for your gypsies:
Gypsy eyes,
Belied the guise
Of times
True innocence.
And in the hide
Of dancing's tide
She held
Her gypsy prince.
He smiled
While she denied
A force
So innocuous,
To rise
At her demise
A promise:
Love instantaneous!
This is one that slipped by me before, but it is lovely.  A gypsy queen worthy of her king.  Joyce
Kit - I did enjoy writing this, and could also see her by the fire.
Sunshine - thank you sunshine.
nakdthoughts - the one called' my lady', would be my queen, if only for a day.
Ariana - thank you for your reply, and the king will come in, and sweep her off her feet.
serenity - glad that you liked it...and one must watch dancing by the fire an a swirling skirt, for when watching her, the fires will burn my heart.
OLIAS - I love to write like this, and thank you for your kind words.
latin passion - a teacher I would be, of words if not more. The mountain not an obstacle, for I and my white horse. Thank you for your gentle words.
VAS - I also see those images, and wish that at this every moment I could be there.
Sven - my friend, I certainly thank you for seeing me in this writing. At times it is I, in my mind.
Nan - I close my eyes and see, hair of sandy blondish, hazel eyes, and that darn lighthouse. No, all gypsies are not dark, as I am fair, and one.
JamesMichael - coal black hair, silky for tender fingertips, but of course brown, blond, red, and others are also nice, as you say.
Amuse_mi - your reply sighed as I read it, and it entered my heart, touching with a caress of these gentle words, that you have written.
Joyce Johnson - glad that you came back to read this. And the king is humble, before his queen.
