Gold shimmers on the water
From the full moon shining down
As we begin our gondola ride
In this amazing watery town

The gondolier warmly welcomes us
As "Amore" he does sing
This just adds more to the feeling
That this romantic setting does bring

Your arm around my shoulder
As our mouths, they softly meet
A blanket covers half our bodies
From our waist down to our feet

Under the arches we travel
As we drift on through the night
Through countless small canals
Where there is so very little light

Pigeons come to roose en masse
In St. Marks Square
Very soon we will finish our ride
As we two will be standing there

Then off to a romantic restaurant
Will be the place where we shall go
To sip on some chianti
And dine by the moon's glow

After dinner we well walk hand in hand
As we begin to explore this amazing land
A city built on water
So unique is this sight to see
And such a romantic setting
For the likes of you and me

very romantically lovely! ahhhhhh "sipping chianti under the moon's glow" would be lovely anywhere , but this is perfect.

I'm with James Michael.  I want to go there too.  Nice and romantic, my friend.  You're good at poems like this.
