To Forget

I want to know the night will stay,
is ours to hear and think on,
to start from only this moment
and none before.

I want to know
the music of your footsteps
falling toward me,
fluid within my own soft sadness,
audible only to me, to you.

I want to forget,
to be blind
of the places where
you are apart from me,
unaware that these are your hands
and not my own,
that there is space and air and breath
between us,
that we are only two
and not one.

Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau

Claire~

'I want to know
the music of your footsteps
falling toward me'

Now just how pretty is that thought ???
Nobody says it quite like you do.
Lovely !

If we could only go back and begin anew, the possibilities would be endless.  Unfortunately, life does not work that way.  Nice write, Claire.
