Blame it On the Musicals

spoon fed
from baby's age
of love songs written
for the stage
from
Camelot
to Music Man
tunes that led me
to dreams of grand
Flower Drum Song
led me along
Sound of Music
on hills where I belong
I wanted the romance
and the leading man
or be Shirley
and do a wild can-can
have Quixote dreams
and peppermint sighs
a leading man
easy on the eyes
be the lady
in satin or silk
and travel to lands
of honey and milk
an Exodus
for me and you
and Pygmalion's
schemes, one or two
a dance with Gene
in long away Brigadoon
fantasies in Xanadu
carry me along to you

so if you hear me
humming away
you'll know right off
I was brought up this way….

I see that you're a lady of refinement
The way you write your verses say a lot
You make it clear what each and every line meant..
Thanksalot!

Your poetry is upbeat and uplifting
On days I need a break it hits the spot
So please accept my thanks for all your gifting..
Thanksalot!

Thanksalot! Thanksalot!
I love each sentence that you write.
Thanksalot! Thanksalot!
It fills me with delight.

I, too, love all the showtunes that you speak of
I love the wondrous lyrics they've all got
For all the beauty that you give a peek of..
THANKS A LOT!!

I took the road less traveled..now where the hell AM I???

Balladeer, an interesting reprise, I do admit, and one that left a smile...thank you...

Martie, me too, right back at you...thank you!

Ms. Marie - sassy I am not...unless it's that "good" sassy that some of us can be...thank you!

Thank you Kit!

Bernie - age is a good thing, and much better than the alternative.

Sven - okay....

Well, suthern...they didn't kick you out after all that humming, now did they...in fact, you probably brightened their day...

Xanadu is a marvelous place, is it not, PoeticKnight...thank you!
