The theme of love
Has been a constant thread
Running throughout time,
And the building block of civilization.
With it,
People are able to work together.
Without it,
People have torn each other to pieces.
With love,
Even though poor and suffering
People find hope and happiness.
Without it,
Little else has meaning.
With love,
People thrive and grow.
Without it,
In one way or another------
They die.
Love's absence brings about death
Love's presence creates life.
It gives energy and strength.
It brings unity and peace.
To the extent that there is love
There is harmony within persons.
Love provides the meaning
For why we are here.
Love is the most powerful,
Most creative force around.
Nuclear technology can harness
The physical energies of the earth,
But,
Only love can touch the human spirit.
Weapons can kill the body,
But,
Only the refusal to love
Can destroy the soul.
