your pain touches me
in a place i'd not expected
the more you speak
the deeper i ache
and i sit still now
with this hole in my heart
watching life
slip through the core of me...

i've been here before--
here where you are
and i screamed and ranted
and raged like a frightened child
but release was not within me
there was nowhere to hide
from the morbid realities
that stung my heart
there was no salve
to treat the wounds
and i lay helpless
in writhing agony...

your pain is in me
i mourn your loss
i ache with you
my friend
gather such a moment of relief
while i try on your shoes
and lace my cheeks with
your tears
for a little while

your pain touches me
i did not expect you
but i welcome you
as you stand in the threshold
of this receiving heart
be not shy of me
come in
     come in
where you can loosen your tears--
and regain your laughter
in between

This is very true and very touching, it is amazing the way a person you care for and slip into your heart unoticed until you begin to feel there pain and realize how much you care for them as a friend or maybe more.  Good write!

dg,
Thank you, thank you, thank you dg.  I'm touched, I truly am.  And blessed by the kindness of a "virtual" stranger.  I'm beginning to deal with this in verse, but of course I really don't know where that will lead.  You'll be the first to know.

KRAWDAD..
may an angel guide your pen--that you may spit and spew and laugh and cry and scream and whisper all that you may need to...to find release...
know that i am listening my friend..

HE.. 'we discover ourselves'... yes..it is true    thanks for your reply..

To welcome someone into your heart is a very large thing, it takes courage and a very large heart, that has been offered to me here in DP many times and it just strikes me flat footed when it is offered, this is so kind of you.  well enough said.

love the work kid.
