Every day babies are born and tossed away
as so much offal, while women mourn empty
wombs. Every state should have a creshe
law...

One faint, kitten-like mewling
and there is breath for no more,
as the tiny baby sinks slowly,
becoming part of the garbage and gore.

Its grave will be a dumpster
or a landfill far from sight.
No mother rocks this little one
through its death in a lonely night.

Not flesh enough to have a name,
carelessly and coldly tossed away.
Its only cradle - a wad of filth.
This babe will not see light of day.

Sinking slowly out of sight,
this unwanted and unloved flesh,
condemned to a fading forever in
this forgotten and foresaken creshe.

Disposable angels, born in toilets,
and alleyways, babes of the silent cry,
brought into life just for a moment
before they are sentenced then to die.

"A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water..." Eleanor Rooevelt

How emotional, touching, sad, so well said and, also so true. Great job..

What can I say that has not already been said?  Nothing.  You have brought to the forefront of our minds a tragedy that is happening at this moment.

Wow this is so true & that sickens me--an innocent baby tossed away like a lifeless doll--My boyfriend just saw on the news about a college girl having a baby & threw it in the garbage dump, it was still born, but still noone knew she was pregnant& she didnt want it either way--People amaze me, scare me, sicken me--Great way of portraying this--LOVE ELMO <3

Ladypoet, once again "we the humans" show what we really are! Thank God, most people are caring and giving. I will never know how a "birth mother" can act like this.  My heart goes out to the little no-names and am sure He will have a special place for them.  Wonderfully written.  ME
