Wanna see an old poem? Of course you do!

Black and tan
kiss me; make me whole
crows in the sky, cawing on strings
too dark for candles, too light for lamps

bent photographs with writing and daggers
why haven't you photographed the lightning?
where'd you find that candy-colored piece?

blades of glass and braids of grass
my face is damp, my pillow stinks
pull the strings; watch their wings

stop coming to me with empty solutions
my bed is a mess of unforgiven resolutions
start coming back bearing black and tan drinks

Hmm....you make me think a lot with your words.  I'm not known for my thinking abilities.  Good work!  I liked!

Nothing can start with the words "kiss me" without getting The Kiss permanently embedded in my head....

So now, as I struggle with that before trying ot go back to sleep, I hafta say how yum this is.

Love you.

i'll be waiting for you
do exactly what you're told

good words good work

always love thought provoking poetry

Another thing, crows are so poetic dont you think? ravens more so, but you can never use the raven without inserting Poe into the readers mind.

Again good stuff

Thanks for readin', everyone.

If I remember correctly (and I rarely do), this poem was written only a month after Sept. 11. I went out with a friend and we ended up at a Chili's bar & grill, where I ordered a black and tan.

The next morning, I awoke extremely early and heard crows everywhere. I also remember, our apartment held an impromptu vigil by the pool a few nights' previous, and I watched crows flying in reflection across the pool.

Not to mention, the ghostliness of no-planes-flying -- you could really hear the birds then.

black and tan drinks?
isn't that tennesee nectar an empty solution?

of course not.
loved the last stanza and the line about photographs with writing and daggers...
