NEED AND GREED

You said that it wouldn't be easy,
but it'd never be too much to handle.
It's getting to be too much to handle.
Or at least it's getting awful close to that line.

I strive for deeper understanding.
You try to fill me up with patience.
Will I make use of all the patience
until the pieces fit together just fine?

Don't confuse need with greed.
Nothing is guaranteed.
Don't confuse greed with need.

I shed myself of my desires.
But I desire a piece of mind now.
Will I find that piece of mind now?
Or will desire find and conquer me?

I thought that purpose was important,
'til you revealed to me a purpose.
I wasn't ready for that purpose.
Or perhaps I'm ready as I'll ever be.

Don't confuse need with greed.
There's more than one way to succeed.
Don't confuse greed with need.
