The sun, struggling over the trees of the orchard,
beats down on creaky, weathered bones.
Never lazy in the heat,
cracked, calloused hands move quickly
over rows of beans.
Vines and roots yield to gentle fingers,
and he weaves a living tapestry
of cabbage, squash, and beans.
I stand in the shade,
watching his unflagging strength
and patient tenderness.
Loathe to break the sacred still,
i silently take my place beside him.
He says nothing,
but his eyes grin,
and wrinkles dance at the corners of his mouth.
Even ancient wisdom
can use a young and eager heart.

Sometimes, the things that go unsaid are the only things worth hearing.

Welcome to Passions

Hey baby,   this is such a beautiful poem, and one with lots of meaning put into it.  I like this a lot, and its going straight in my library.  Again, welcome to Passions.
