Started off the new year with a tear,
Which, I’m hoping will be dried,
Come December 31.

It is one different from those of the past--
It is one of maturity,
Of letting go with peace.

Nothing could take away the sting of this blow,
But the passing of the year has brought me
Somewhat of a quiet comfort.

The snow still waits for me outside;
I’m still going to have to muster the strength
To plow my way through.

However, those breezes blow in the right direction;
As I make my path
Through the wintry wilderness,

The wind moves some of the mass
Out of my way.
I’ll never forget what happened to my heart

When you looked at me,
Nor will I try to put behind me
The gentle alleviation of your touch.

Instead, I will carry that same serenity with me
To warm my heart
In cold hours such as these.

This poem is sad yet shows your inner strength to go on. Well done!

Strength does come in the quiet comfort of knowing that you can and WILL rise to new levels and shine on your new path.  Wonderful pouring of the heart my friend.  Hope all is turning out better since you wrote this one.

Mark:  yeah, I guess that's what new years are for, aren't they?  And, yes, things are looking better since penning this.  I thank you, my dear friend, for your thoughtful replies.  They are much appreciated, but I hope you already know that!

Elizabeth:  no, it isn't, but without the outlet of poetry, I can't say I'd know what I'd do!  thank you for reading!

Paula:  well, thank you for your heartfelt reply and the kind offer to talk!  I truly appreciate it.  I'm glad you could stop by!

kris~
my dear friend...
i've read a lot of your poems...and all
of them have affected me in one way or
another, made me smile, or think, or tugged
at my heart...but this one. i seem to be
at a loss of words and probably won't
give it the justice it so rightfully
deserves. but something about the sincerity,
the simpleness, and the sadness of this
hit me straight in the heart. knowing you
as i do   i know you do have the strength
and the heart to move on. i also know that
you write what you feel deep inside you
that is normally locked up. perhaps i should
have saved something this personal to share
with you out of the forum...but i am sure
everyone at this forum, knows how
wonderful and special you are. you forever
hold a dear place in my heart, and if
ever you need to talk...you know where
i'll be. my door is always open for you.

loves ya much,
amy

Oh, Aim...what can I say, except that I am extremely fortunate to have a friend like you who knows me so well and can read all of that from a few lines of poetry.  I thank you dearly, my friend, for your continued support of my writing, as that means the world to me, but you know all of that good stuff.  TTYL!!

Dignified and strong.   I like this one.

Come to touch,
