Shadows on the Wall

Like finger puppets
Casting shadows
Animated in candlelight
Punch and Judy
In silence
Without bats
Maybe some Kukla and Ollie
Without Fran

Acting out the you and me
Of yesterday
The embraces, the fights
Lack of understanding
The tears
High drama
Seen only on the wall
As the shadows interpret
The stoic reality

Can this ever end with a hug
Will someone new ever
Put out the candle
On these shadows

Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes.

Bill, I loved the imagery. Kukla, Fran and Ollie was one of my favorites, how you bring back memories.
But shadows are only shadows. I would have a lot of them if I thought in the past.
Very well written, my friend

Bill--sometimes those shadows haunt us all the time, even when the candle flickers and dies...I loved the way you wrote this, my friend.

I've always wondered what the shadows could say if they spoke. . . now I have an idea. . .

well done Sir. . .

Very well related to. *sigh* Some shadows will never cease in the mind, regardless how bright the sun.

Good writing, Wil.
