hi my name is james, and I'm a workaholic
people say that I work too much and I agree
I work from dawn to well past dusk
and for what I'm paid it might as well be for free
for nine hundred a month I bust my ass
doing things no one wants to do, but desires
and my friends and family wonder why for?
when there's nothing here that's proud or inspires
the only thing I know is that at the end of the day
when my bones are sore and my body dead
I'm glad that I worked the best I could
and it allows me to rest my head
but only for a minute
for a tiny space of time
a pause you can call it if you will
a tequila shot with lime
and no one seems to know,
just what it is I do
hell sometimes I myself don't know,
and don't have any sort of clue
but there's moonlight in the mountain sky
and wolves are in the air
as a fire burns with in my heart,
please note you will be there
no matter what I do
or what it is I don't say
it's all the same to hear your name
and I'll make it through the day
but they always say those who work the most
have problems here or there
I must confess I am a mess
but the truth makes it unfair
so I work as hard as I can
to keep you from my mind
it is a test to make me rest
when peace is hard to find
so I'll take a break a time or two
and find you've gone away
to make a call or break a fall
and you'll be back today
so I'll get up and try to pass the time
for an hour or a day
and come back to find you've gone again
and I don't know what to say
I'll apologize to you,
but I'm not sure if you know
how it feels to talk to you
and how it hurts to have you go
but perhaps I'm too straight forward
and say what's on my mind
but look at me and then you'll see
the truth is quick to find
so I'm a workaholic
with problems yes it's true
but one things pure of that I'm sure
I'm good when talking to you

I could really relate to this. And I absolutely love the last two lines. Nice work.

James,

I couldn't have picked something better to wake up to, besides waking up with you. You'll never have to worry when I go away...because it's true, I WILL ALWAYS be back. I'm a constant thing. And thats a promise. Thank you for this. *k&h* This heart's for you.

ahh, Des. I am sure you're thanked somewhere for what you are doing. I know I thank you. Not much consolation, I know.
This is good writing, My Friend. Yanno, I've watched your writing since I first noticed your name, and watched you get better and better. Amazing how we've all grown isn't it? You always amaze me with your intensity and your straight forward way. Remember to hold on to the feeling that when you're talking to them..you're good. Nice work.
