THE STORM

Watching a lady bug crawl through the grass
while you are sitting at the pond enjoying the tranquillity.
The water is calm, smooth like a pane of glass,
And you're lost in your thoughts, playing hide and seek with reality.
The calmness is soon gently interrupted by a cool brisk breeze that seems to gently blow from the north.
Your tranquil, motionless surroundings awaken with the breeze as they dance in the wind, swaying back and forth.
Then out of the north comes a gust of wind that ripples the water as it whisks by.
You see clouds froming over the horizon; dark angry clouds hanging low in the sky.
They creep toward you ever so slowly, pushing their way over the hills.
They begin to drive towards you boldly, and you know their guts are about to spill.
The stillness you once knew has become a frenze in the gale.
The tumultuous winds wreak havoc around you, and the clouds begin to sling down hail.
The deluge that follows the hail
Flows from the clouds like a dam-break.
The ripples in the pond have grown to swells,
And the 45 mile per hour ice balls you can't take.
The storm has progressed rapidly from sprinkle, to drizzle, to downpour;
And you are caught in the absolute worst.
The elements you try to ignore,
But the rain is beginning to hurt.
You take out on a run towards home;
Back in the direction in-which you came.
The winds are gusting strong
As they whip needles for rain.
Thunder claps loudly in the dark cloudy sky,
And lightning snaps tenaciously at the trees.
The deafening sound and bright flashes catch your eye,
As the trees explode into little puffs of leaves.
Finally you reach home and leap under the porch canopy,
And you look back in disbelief.
Upon the rooftop, the rain plays a melody
As you crawl out of clothes, into bed, and fast asleep.

I do love a good storm. Especially when I can climb back in bed with my love and snuggle while the rain beats on the roof. We have been promised thunderstorms today and tomorrow. Can't wait!!

My kind of storm also, but I can do without the lightning. Kinda scary at times, especially when it hits in your front yard.

Can't wait for your thunderstorms today, huh... If I could snuggle everyday with my honeybee, I'd wish it would rain all the time.
