In a Drawer, In a Box
Virginia Salter

There’s a drawer, there’s a box
where old valentine’s reside.
I cannot throw them out
for they remind me
there was that kind of love
in my life
at one time.

They may be dusty
and yellowed with age;
they may be wrinkled and bent
but then, so am I.

A part of my past
some moments of bliss
when there was not just chocolate
in the taste of a kiss.

Some of those valentines
speak of a mother’s, father’s
and a grandma’s love
and some of them come
from a daughter
the result of a love
that once lived here.

Please don’t be sad
please don’t shed too many a tear
rejoice with me for the memories
that came through the years.

Because the adage is true
the adage is right
it’s better to have loved and lost
than be alone in the fight.

And remember with me
of the Love I have found
in the One on the tree
in Whom I’m eternal bound.

He’ll be with me forever
He’ll never ever leave
all I need is to remember
to forever believe.

VAS~
I enjoyed this lovely nostalgic piece.

You reminded me of the drawers and boxes of Valentines, cards, letters and all that other memorabilia I keep.

Thank you for sharing this -
