Tip-Tap Shoes and Princess Dress

She's become a harlot whose forgotten of her birth
as she struggles with life upon this dreaded earth.
She makes her day's living next to the local bar
where she's become well known by men both near and far.

A man came to visit and looked down from her face
and beheld the little child who lived there in that place.
Her house was a disaster, the stench so hard to bare
and it was quite obvious that no one there did care.

The child's face was dirty, her clothes covered in grime
and the man who stood by thought it an awful crime.
Something miraculous happened in that house that day...
a man with compassion from the harlot turned away.

He told the child's mother,"I'm taking your child with me!"
as child and man walked in hand on a child's shopping spree.
He asked the little girl, "What clothes do you like best?"
and she replied softly, "Tip-tap shoes and princess dress."

The gentleman did his best to wash her face and brush hair...
though it took a good hour, her complexion looked quite fare.
The little girl watched amazed as through aisles they did sprawl
for this was her first time to see a shopping mall.

To the harlot's disgruntle from the High Court, she learned
that her child loved the Father and would never be returned.
Now, you may ask yourself, "How does this relate to me?"
Your the child, Harlot the world, God's come to set us free!

And you make the point so very well and your light is ALWAYS so very easily seen my friend. I thank you for that and for the way you share your wisdom and insight with us so beautifully. Excellent write and the poem reads wonderfully aloud and holds the song of love from "him" so very well. I applaud you sir.

I was going to say something like I forgot to add this to my library but truthfully, I just want to bring it to the top so it has a chance to be read as it deserves far more than just my megar reply to it. Hope you don't mind sir.

Nicely written, Bob. Your use of metaphor without heavy didacticism is refreshing. A stirring composition. Thanks for it.

Mark,

Thank you my friend for your reply and I am honored that you were touched so much by this poem that you wanted others to be blessed as well... If you were the only person to read and reply, my expectation would be filled because the peom would have been meant for you. Bob <><

Claire,

I am so glad that you read and did not feel violated in any way... I so wanted to convey an important message without the reader feeling preached at. God bless you and thank you for replying. Bob <><

Cerenity,

First, thank you for resurrecting my poem! Wow, I thought that I was burried in the shuffle... As poets, many times, we are what we write. You see, this is based on a real life experience... I was the man but not the Father. Many years later, God correlated this experience with salvation so intensly to me. I have not seen the child since I was called to whitness in court where the little girl was granted custody to her real life Father. Yes, this is a magnanimously important issue. Thank you again. Bob <><

VAS,

So, you have a poet loving pastor? My pastor gets a copy of each poem that I've written if he loves them or not I do not know... You know it is an honor to be asked to copy and especially to know that I will be read by an ordained man of God. VAS, I do pray that others will read and be blessed as I have been to live and to write it. The answer--- YES! YES! YES! God bless you my Christian friend. Bob <>< YES!!!

walker,

Gosh, it's nice to meet you over here as well. Yes, God so many times rescues us all. Speaking from experience, God is no respector of men or women or both... He is the Father of the world and he Loves all His children the same and He's just waiting for us to call Him "Daddy" so he can take us in His arms and comfort us. Thank you my friend for reading and replying. Bob <><
