Serenity floods through my soul today;
A canvas splashed with memories sublime
Transports me to those shores of grand Cape May
To childhood, back to that simpler time.
Beside the oceanside is found release
Completely I am cleansed from cleaving stress
Awash in tides of ever-flowing peace
Immersed in God’s creative timelessness.
Upon the rocks crescendos mighty crash
Gulls swoop and soar in glee above each crest
In reverie amidst the foam I splash
On velvet sand, sun-kissed, I find true rest.

Enchantment is the gift the artist brings
Enraptured by each stroke my spirit sings.

Hey Denise! Beautiful graphic to go with an even more beautifully expressed poem! Love it!!

Thank you, Snowpants and Janet Marie! Glad you liked it! The picture is a snapshot I took when I was in Cape May in February of '99. If you look real close you can see the lighthouse (Very top, center). I really must get a camera with a telscopic lens! Thanks again!!

Wonderful, Denise. A beautiful sonnet and, when you write about the beach or seaside, nobody does it better..

dear Denise; I came right home and looked this up, and oh what a delightful surprise! I love the sea and especially do i love Cape May, this is positively exquisite! Suddenly it is summer and I am there! I loved meeting you today and hearing your poetry, what a delightfully lovely person you are! Thanks for getting me back to 422! Love, Ellie
P.S. go see the poem Dennis and I wrote together about the sea, it is posted under his name in Spiritual.

Denise,

A very nice picture is your sonnet... true to form. Your photograph brings back childhood memories for me as well of my dad and I fishing off the rocks.... looks like some good fishing there........ Bob <><

Ellie - You're welcome! 422 was the best part of the trip home for me. I took 202 South instead of North, so I prolonged my trip a bit. And then of course the Schuylkill...need I say more......hehehe...I arrived home at about almost 6:30, so I did 3 hours driving total today for something that should only have taken an hour each way. But it was worth it to meet you and Kamla and to see Elizabeth again, and to talk to Sy! Thanks for your lovely words. Hope to see you again soon!

Nan - Not a thing, not a blessed thing...well, except maybe to be able to get off work Tuesday to come to New York to meet you and to see Elizabeth again and Kamla again before she has to leave. I'll let you know by tomorrow night! Thanks for the 'awesome'!!

Claire - Thanks so much! I'm thrilled that you liked it!!

Bob - Yes, the fishing is fantastic! Those memories are sooooo special, aren't they?!
Thanks so much for your lovely words!!

Cerenity - Thanks so much!! Taking a break and getting away to a favorite spot is essential!! Hope you get to do so soon!!

Martie - Thanks for the hug!! There were plenty!! I didn't want to leave as you can imagine!! Sometimes the longest way home is the most beautiful....but not going in the wrong direction, getting me to the Schuylkill (the absolute worst highway in the world...or hell on earth, as I call it...hehehe) after dark!! But all's well that ends well!! Thanks for your lovely reply!!
