It is a common need in life
That people like to hear
Occasionally the words "I love you"
Whispered in their ear..
Although those words are beautiful
I'd rather hear, instead
You tell me that you know I love you
When it's time for bed.

It's easy to get sidetracked in
The bustle of the day
And little things to show one's love
Can get lost on the way.
Kind words can take a backseat to
The bills that must be paid
And pressures from one's daily life
Leave loving undisplayed...

For those times when I feel that
I haven't followed through
To be the lover that you need
Although I live for you,
When nighttime falls, just touch my cheek
Then kiss me tenderly
And smile and say "I know you love me"
That's enough for me.

I want so much for you to know
Emotions that I feel
And help you understand how much
My love for you is real
But sometimes words get in the way
And I cannot express
The strength of what I feel inside
In loving openness...

For those times when the day has drained me
Tired as I can get
And I feel that attention paid you
Is inadequate
Just reach and touch your lips to mine
And hold me next to you
Then smile and say "I know you love me"...
I'll say, "Yes, I do."

Sweet, and different. Yes, I think I'd say it over and over again, just to hear that "Yes, I do."

This is fantastic, Balladeer. No flowery sentiments contrived to woo the heart but matter-of-fact sincerity is what you do impart. Any bride, yes any wife would surely be glad to receive such a wonderful greeting as this. I'm so happy I didn't miss this one. It renews my hope that guys can truly feel and say how they feel. Well done!

'Deer love, this is just as it should be, utterly wonderful, but then I know as well as I know here is the place to find magic, that a poem written by you will be extra special. Outstandingly excellent even by your standards, and yes I love it as always.
Absolutely first class, in everything, form style grace, and it's poetry. I love it
Take care love as always

And in recognizing that need in you to know that your love is recognized even when not stated, she's saying those 3 words beautifully. *S* This is great, Deer one!

Balladeer,

You are so talented in writing.. I love the way you can make me laugh hysterically with some of your writings and make me sigh with others. I'm glad I stopped in

Hi Balladeer.......

Very smooth writing there!!!..

Sure would make a great song.....(hint hint)

Simple sentiment, well said.
Want me to give it a try?

It must be wonderful to have words flow down your arm and onto paper like melted butter.<<<<

You even almost made me cry at the end.
That last line was so unexpected, but yet.. what else could it have said? (smile)
