A Life On The Ocean Wave

The wind filled sails carried us all on
Through days of rain and days of sun
The waters surged and the salt tang
The ocean called and the waves sang
What better life was there than this
To taste that unique oceans salty kiss

Adventure and wonder it’s a roving life
Excitement and danger onward into strife
Feel the wind blowing hear the sails flap
How I love to hear the waves going slap

We had been at sea supplies were low
We’d had days of calm and days of blow
The captain was a devil ran a tight ship
A good captain but too fond of the whip
A daily flogging we all witnessed cruelty
Worse than that was when he flogged me

Adventure and wonder they said it’s true
Excitement and danger we’ll bring you
Feel the wind blow and waves salt spray
This is the life for me hip hip hooray

We’ve been lost at sea for many a day
The captain’s mad so I’ve heard men say
And this voyage isn’t what I thought at all
There’s nothing romantic about the sea call
If only we could sight land then I’d be free
Never again to wonder about this mystery

Adventure and wonder I want no more
Excitement and danger a life so very sore
I don’t want to live on the stormy waves
I want to be happy my life I want to save

Marsha

And while thy willing soul transpires
At every pore with instant fire

Wow ! Ms. Beverley~
Sounds as if the sea-faring life isn't for thee !
Aren't you just something else !
What a venture !

Lovely flow to this piece.  Very nicely penned.

WOW, I am sure glad this is a story and didn't really happen to you. You made it a clear picture, though, lots of pictures.
Great and hugs, ME
