ignorance encompassed
the Intolerance,
Guilt,
Narrow-mindedness,
Opportunities missed,
Revelations misinterpreted,
Allowance,
Non-negotiable
Confusion,
it's Everlasting.

from the pages of my life
you'll find hatred and much strife
in this world of which you and i both live
compassion is something no one gives
as the earth turns 'round the sun
i so turn - i turn and run

i try to escape the images portrayed in my mind
i try to escape, though i'll never get through
i know in my life i'll never find
a sheltered place with liberal views

i turn to my own eyes, to show me the light
i turn to my own ears, to help me hear the cries
i turn to my own hands, to give an understanding embrace
i turn to my own heart, to show there's love in many ways

what i can't comprehend
what i don't understand
is how i live with such stupidity - it's hard to fathom

every day i find myself
pondering these never-ending questions
i can't believe what i see
through these crimes against humanity

"i turn to my own eyes, to show me the light"

You won't find it here.....not in your own eyes,  and yes, compassion does exist sweet poet...it does.......
