Reality

As real as snowplow sounds upon the street,
As rain on roof, or song of spring-swift streams,
So surely heard, your soft voice does entreat
Me into an enchanted world of dreams.
As palpable as breeze upon my face,
Or fragrant blossom on the summer air,
Yes, even more, I feel your warm embrace
Encompassing my being everywhere.
As clearly as I see the sky above
And note the ordered placement of each star,
I gaze into your dark eyes, soft with love,
Unhindered by how far away you are.

Though distant still, you are more real to me
Than what my senses deem reality.

Your emotion and sincerity show in every word and I love the idea of distance not defining reality.  Those last two lines...blew me away.  Absolutely love this!  Thanks!

kcsgrandma - I would critique if I could only find something, but this is just wonderful. Perhaps a critique next time.

Ah Marilyn - I love your version of reality! And even more, I love how you invoke it...wonderful, as usual... a gentle smile you offer us, and I return a smile to you

JLR - Thank you for your kind words. I see a lot of people (especially poets ) here and at other sites dealing with the same feelings and questions. Modern life has, perhaps, re-defined what is real, especially in matters of the heart.

BC - You have put a huge smile on my face. Thank you for attempting to find something to critique. I will look forward to next time.

Pixy OOPS g - Thanks. You know, I'd love to send it as a Valentine, but I'm so impatient, I sent it as soon as it was written. Oh well, will have to come up with something else. hugs

suthern - Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.

jellybeans - Thank you. Glad you both stopped in.

Sunnyone - Thank you for your very sweet reply.

Lary - Thank you. As you can see, I received your smile, and it is warming the February night.

You are so right, sometimes reality can be a little different than we percieve it. This is so beautiful...I miss you in the Pub though! Love, Ellie

This is lovely! I'm going to put it in my library collection of future possible poems for the newsletter (if you agree)!

Ellie - You are always sweet. You, who make us all believe in fairies, surely understand that reality is not always what we think it is. I haven't completely left the Pub, just decided to branch out a little, but thanks for missing me. hugs

PdV - I would be honored to be included in that library of yours. Thank you for asking.
