Dos and Don’ts
By Richard Maxfield
2-5-2001

Do the dos
Don’t do the don’ts
Be a I will
Not an I wont

Run with the runners
Don’t set with the sitters
Become a finisher
Not a quitter

Do it now
Never wait
Be a I can
Not an I can’t

Say the good
Never the bad
Soar with the happy
Don’t grovel in sad

Be a thinker
Look before you leap
Life is short
Never cheap

Arrive early
Not to late
Learn to love
Not to hate

Excellent advice here.

Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats
