Heartstrings In The Snow ... (a friendship was born)

So special this day, when the first light appeared
and I glanced out the window to see,
a new fallen snow, and a cardinal of red,
dancing in front of me.

So sweet she appeared, though hungered for love
of the nourishment, needed to live.
That I reached out to her, with my heart and my soul,
wanting and needing to give.

As I opened the door and stepped to the right,
I passed by my wicker porch swing...
Then slowly I turned...saw the beautiful snow
felt a tug, at my lonely heartstrings.

So dainty in size, but a spirit so bright,
as she chirped and awaited my treat.
Delighting me now, as she did her dance
and sang to me ...oh so ~~sweet~~.

A thank you of sorts, I'm sure it was,
as I watched every movement she made.
Then she flew up high, in the tallest of trees
and I felt I had made a good trade...

For you see cardinal red...I now, nicknamed 'snow'
and each winter, I watch for her dance.
Her little bird prints marking the white
and me finding her ... just by chance.

Wynter, everything about this reached into the dry places, it's my favorite subject-nature and imagery.  Thank you!

one day another poet friend of mine was a bit depressed, her nickname was snow
and that morning I awoke to the beauty of the white as I did today, and I wrote the poem to cheer her up ...that cardinal was so beautiful the crimson against the white...I just wanted to share it today and maybe let her see it once again to  make her spirits soar...

thank  you All...

well I thought I had commented on this one, but don't see my name here, so here goes, this is precious, reminds me of a baby bird that fell out of the nest and we raised it, even after he was grown if I was outside, he used to fly close to me and sing the prettiest songs to me   thanks for the memories
