~Traces Left Behind~

What's left of me ... inside of you ... did I leave anything behind,
am I a whisper in your heart ... a ghost of sweet regret in your mind.
Did I leave a trace of contentment ... did I mend the hole in your heart,
am I a secret that you keep ... a kind memory that love imparts.

When you think of me ... does it bring a gentle smile to your face,
do you cherish the love we shared ... is it held in a special place.
Did I leave a lasting impression ... any footprints on your soul,
did my love bring you peace ... did I complete and make you whole.

When you cry late at night ... am I there in your tears reflection,
did my love inspire you ... did I give your life direction.
Will I always be inside of you ... a soft shadow, a treasured memory,
when you look back on this love ... will this time be an echo of destiny.

Did my love make you strong ... did it help you to see your own light,
did my touch make you warm ... did my embrace keep you safe thru the night.
Can you now see the beauty in you ... can you love yourself thru my eyes,
can you accept fate's reasons ... find the path to where love's future lies.

All these things you have left behind in me ...  sweet butterfly kisses on my heart,
I hold on to the memories ... and cherish this love ... now that we're apart.

Janet Marie

~On Mornings Return~

By mornings light I rise ...
and I feel you from the depths of my soul.
While in that quiet moment ...
I know I am complete and finally whole.

You're still with me every second ...
everywhere I look ... it's you I see.
You are the breath that sustains ...
you are my poetic light of destiny.

My day's new dawn ...
my moon's midnight sky.
My falling star to wish upon ...
my butterfly wings to fly.

I see you in the satin clouds ...
I taste you in the rain.
I hear you in the winds of change ...
as you softly whisper my name.

This love remains unfaltering ...
you're in my heart to stay.
You shine on me like the morning sun ...
and I smile ... for I know ... heaven's not so far away.

Janet Marie

JM,
It's so hard to read and answer your poetry.
You speak and write on a level I only visit ocasionally. Where you sustain I remain. Where you fly I can only sigh. The light is too light, the bright is to bright. I empathize and can only shield my eye. Your poetry is like looking into the sun. Too long and I would be blind. I can only say God bless and that I love you. Stinky

These really gripped my heart... How many nights have I spent wondering if I really ever mattered, do memories bring a smile, am I even remembered? Whatever the answers to those questions, my heart remembers heaven. *S* Beautiful!!!

(sulk) I wanted so much to be the first to reply to this lovely duet... but the werk monster grabbed my ankles and dragged me away mid-thought. The ole meanie... I can't help it that I think slowly! *S*

Janet Marie, you have grown, because you knew long before the question was asked.
Outstanding and utterly wonderfully written pieces.
Congratulations on 7000, that is a fantastic achievement. And all of them are as wonderful as this is.
Absolutely fabulous. (Do you know my version of CC, that if we could see with others eyes we would see the beauty in our words) And it is that beauty that shines in your writing.
Take care love

The entire poem was fantastic, JM, but this is my absolute favorite part...I guess because I can relate, in a way.  But, this is a beautiful tribute.  I love it.
But, those (...), I am absolutely addicted now.  Thanks a LOT!!   LOL

I hardly post in this forum, but Im glad I encountered these superb peices. The two endings really summed up the feelings expressed.
"All these things you have left behind in me ...  sweet butterfly kisses on my heart,
I hold on to the memories ... and cherish this love ... now that we're apart."
&
"This love remains unfaltering ...
you're in my heart to stay.
You shine on me like the morning sun ...
and I smile ... for I know ... heaven's not so far away."

I thank you very much for sharing these!

Hi JM love it as always

I seem to be going through a very deep read beneath the lines dark phase at the minute (found myself reading Coleridge etc.) Always glad to read your work I have been missing from forums for a while as you will have noticed.  Think i owe you an explanation it is not that i have stopped writing my muse was just taken on some wild tangents i have written numerous short stories (dark Sci-fi) some lyrics (For a friend 'Thrash Metal') and continued on my book (Humorous) i have also been approached by Global publishing to enter 'White Rose' (PiP main page) into a book called Poets and Poetry soon to be released this is on top of normal life continueing so as you can imagine my muse and my time have been overwhelmed.

But im Back and im Bad should be posting more over the coming days see you later JM

From Walter (Your Poet in the Dark)

Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.

The very deep did rot: O Christ!

~Forever December~

I reach within my isolation
I harbor it, I honor it
you say you'd like to see me closer
of course you would
you have no choice
and I cry cause the weather has gotten to me
and I laugh at the people that I can’t be, all their lives, silly
pictures

hey now now now hey now hey baby
baby’s getting older
hey now now now hey now hey baby
the tide is turning, turn us away

you'll build the wall, I’ll build the fountain
we'll wrestle it, we'll conquer it
I think we'll live to see the mountain
of course we will
we have no choice
and I cry cause the weather has gotten to me
and I laugh at the people that I can’t be, all their lives, silly
pictures

hey now now now hey now hey baby
baby’s getting older, baby’s getting older
hey now now now hey now hey baby
the tide is turning, don't turn me away

and I can’t remember, forever December
the sense of it dying
the heart of the pain
the rose in the bottle
thorn’s in the bottom
stars surround me
the cold astounds me
astounds

Janet Marie,
You are an inspiration to so many, as is evident in the responses to this post. Your poetry inspires other poets, your warmth inspires friendships, your self determination makes others want to excel. To me you inspire LIFE!. You live life to its fullest no matter the circumstances, not afraid to help others, not afraid to receive a helping hand, because your heart is full and open to others. Your passion for living comes out in your poetry, and this post is just an example of that. Your thoughts are exquisite and you let them flow and allow us to see what's in your heart. You are a dear, sweet poet frind, an asset to Passions. You have inspired me many times and I thank you for that. May you continue to grow as a poet and to write and be an inspiration to others.
Incidentally, Congratulations on your 7000 posts. The number is insignificant, but the exuberance in each and every response is amazing and that, my dear, is what sets you apart. Your humor, your love, your enthusiasm, your talent are all much appreciated by this humble poet

Congatulations Janet, on the milestone and the fabulous words you have penned. Traces Left Behind has impacted on me rather deeply and ranks highly among my favourites. Take care!

There are always traces of you left behind and that is why we all love you so much.

We also love the way you always find such beauty in our works when we can't but most of all it comes from your sincere and generous heart.

CONGRATS there "puddle-puff" on your milestone.

BE looking for ya on your next milestone and all the steps in between.
