My Father's Daughter

Instill in me your humble truth
Your wisdom
Lord, how you do see.
The world so full of limitation,
And possibility.
Let me never lose your words,
Guideposts
Through my days.
Let me not forget your face,
Your touch,
Your gentle ways.
I am my Father's daughter.

Raise me up to heights unseen,
Wrapped safely
In your arms.
Where nightmares are shown,
To be
But a dream.
Harbor me, each day
From
All harm.
And give me the power,
The strength you so bear.
To go on,
Long after your gone.
For without you,
The road will swallow me up.
The night,
Will never show dawn.
I am my Father’s daughter

And I will cry
Salty pain,
With each memory fresh and new.
Each thought
Of what you your words would be
Your gentle,
"Here’s what you must do".
"Go on my child...
My spirit is here,
Feel it...
For it is part of you"
"Go on, live the life
You are meant to live,
For life is what I gave you"
"And remember, my child
Just WHO you are,
For you're special
Beyond all words.
Stay strong, have faith
And keep me near,
When the road signs
In life become blurred"
I am my Father’s daughter.

So hard at times,
For my heart is still breaking.
The cracks feel
Fresh,
Still new.
Yet, heed your words,
I know that I will.
I know what it is
I must do.
One foot before the next.
Each day,
One step at a time.
And forever, your love
Will be with me.
Forever,
You will be mine.
For I am my Fathers daughter.

I sense the Father of All being embraced here...with wisdom, gentleness - and faith.
Absolute delight!

Thank you Elizabeth, and Lary you are correct, this is not about my parent. I've not known a man such as this.
