Oh Gladsome Tide
Virginia Salter

a little bit of rain’s come in
to soothe those acrid skies,
quench the thirst of withered souls,
wash tears from bleary eyes

oh weariness begone with you
take leave, you loathsome mood
oh, rain, enrich my life with gladsome ring
and nurturing soul food

uplift my spirit by your power
allaying gift of heaven;
consume the pain and apathy
that permeates as leaven

revive in me a spirit free
with goals and joys to find
cleanse the dust of hours by,
renew, restore my mind

autumnal rains of season’s dawn,
sweeten, repair the Earth
fill every cell, each entity
in gaiety’s rebirth.

The rain can cleanse our souls as well as the Earth. Beautiful work, Virginia.

Thank you Elizabeth.  So then, might we compose an ode to a cloudy sky?
