A Mighty Tall Tale
~*Marge Tindal*~

Once I had a tale to tell.
I think I thunk it up while riding along the trail.
Then I got bucked off by that old sorrel.
Now my memory's gone, completely shot to hell.

If you get throwed you are s'posed
to get up and try it again.
But, here I linger in the dust,
slowly becoming an old bucket of rust.

If I ever had a tale to tell,
I guess it died in my throat.
For no longer do I remember my name,
much less the words I wrote.

I'd try my best to recall it now,
but I'd surely have to make it up.
A very sad tale it would have to be,
for I'm now crying in my cup.

Some tales are better off
left to roll with the tumbleweed.
No more tales do I repeat
as I drop wearily to my knees.

I'm gone to that big roundup in the sky.
Just let me be, if you please.
I had a mighty tall tale to tell,
done fergot it,
purty as you please !

How can I be sad and smiling at the same time Marge? This was a wonderful tale ... I'm glad you put it to paper before it disappeared on you! Loved the conversational feel to this, I really enjoyed it.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

I just cannot imagine you as an ole bucket of rust no matter how hard I try.  Now get off of your knees and share that tale with us.
