Sailor's Sea I cast away all thoughts of terrestrial life to live within, upon the sea; the sea, the sea, the mighty sea, of azure blues, emerald greens, flecked with white, topped with dreams; longing dreams of depths below, mermaids, men and other things seen and heard, touched and felt; such wondrous visions have I seen. I cast away all ties to life to swim with friends who have passed through waves, to join the souls of ships below; my time has come to give these aged and brittle bones the rest they need, deserve and crave. My restless days upon the waves, the shores I've seen, women I've loved, friends I've made... have played their last; it's peace I seek beneath the waves within the bed that's laid for souls like mine, where mighty ships and friends reside. The sea, the sea, this love of mine, whose azure waves and emerald depths call me, call me; it's time,It's time I know, to give up life and release my soul. w. james beard, jr. Up from the lonely depths I roam To take this lonely sailor home The spectral light of sunsplashed sea Is waiting there for you and me Liquid depths surround us now As we stand upon shipwrecked bows And sail upon stormless seas From now until eternity.... Ignore those who would clip your wings...fly ever upward...even if it means scorched wings |

I could feel it as the love of oceans flows in my veins. I loved the whole feel of this poem for you mixed another love of mine into it with the fantasy you wrote. *sigh* perfection for me, my friend. Thank you so much for the great read. Thanks Sunshine, I envisioned this as sort of the last song of a sailor knowing it's time to go (didn't quite say what I wanted but can't win them all) Sea, must say I thought of you when writing this and hoped you'd like it. Beautiful words Paula, thank you. Startime...glad you felt it, I try to have my readers "feel", not just read. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
