Alone, alone, all walk through no man's land,
Though the wise know this is our darkest night,
No more important than a grain of sand.

The skein of time unwinds, too slow to stand,
Hope clasped to the heart, like the widow's mite.
Alone, alone, all walk through no man's land.

As empty lives fall short of what was planned,
All look to the sky, though it deems their plight
No more important than a grain of sand.

Justice hides,under fate's despotic hand,
Blind to the caitiff and the cenobite,
Alone, alone all walk through no man's land.

As if from heaven's gates, forever banned,
We wander lost,to deem what's wrong and right
No more important than a grain of sand.

While many are trying to understand,
Some just pray there are better days in sight,
No more important than a grain of sand,
Alone, alone all walk through no man's land.

This poem had almost a hopelessness to it. Your words sang the message you have tried to convey. Sad this world is when we think we walk the path of life alone. I take heart in believing I do not walk alone but still my heart breaks for those who think they do. You have a wonderful talent, my friend and I totally enjoyed experiencing it. Thank you so much for this read.

Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams. [URL=http://path2riches.com]http://path2riches.com

Thanks,Startime. This poem is about the decline of religion and the isolation some are feeling in an increasingly secularised society. There is hope, with the line,'the wise know this is our darkest night'.This is a villanelle.

This is an excellent Villanelle and speaks a strong statement. It's very well crafted. Nicely done.

the kindest prayer then, that no one walk alone, unless by choice...

well done Tony...
