she steps onto the stage
the lights are bright
all she can really see
are the critics in the front row
nervously, she begins
and there they sit in judgement
and the tears begin to fall

but as things come into focus
she begins to see the rest of the theatre
and she sees them. . .
friends,
         family,
                  everywhere
there they are, hanging on her every word
sending her warmth and love

and so, she continues
as she does, the words come stronger
her voice grows louder
and she finishes with a flourish

they begin to applaud
          the flowers fill the stage
and she bows to accept their thanks

she doesn't know what the critics said
if they loved or hated her
                    matters not in the end

all she knows is
that now she will be heard
          and that this reluctant voice
will sing until the end of time

Thank you Sven for your kindness in this poem. I think 'reluctant' is mild compared to how I really feel. Again, thank you for including me in your Gallery of Poets (I hope you do one for yourself too!!!)

you have captured her essence well here Sven ...
there has always been a certain reserve about her ... like a well kept secret.
And I hope she doesnt mind me giving her a "plug" .. but for those new here and those like me who dont often have the time to hit all the many forums here...
Poet D has some superb examples of her work in the Prose forum...
her gift for writing in prose is one of her secrets as well
another wonderful portrait Sven

Jan, yes there is "something" about her isn't there?  Just like that movie. . .    thank you. . .

deVine, thank you my friend. . . glad that you liked it. . . I would say that you're not that "reluctant" any more. . . you're a wonderful poet and friend and it wouldn't be Passions without you. . .

Beautiful Sven ... you are building such a wonderful Gallery, and it surely would not be complete without this lovely poet, editor, friend, and champion of the Forums ... her tireless efforts keep the Passion flowing within these wonderful walls. Loved this, and love you Sharon!

Best wishes,
