A Call From an Old Friend

The song that came to touch my ear
So far away and yet so near
Whispering through the edge of time
A voice recalled in heart and mind

The breeze that spoke the nevermore
Has drifted from a distant shore
And brushed it’s warmth upon my face
And touched me with a soft embrace

The voice is but a golden thread
Of what was known but never said
The ribbon binding youth to youth
That whispers now forgotten truth

And if the song is never heard
And lost in all unspoken word
It is the wish of earth and sea
In silent hymns to let it be

But nothing breaks a friendship laced
With golden threads so finely placed
And all that matters in the end
A little whisper now and then

Elizabth Santos

You sweetie, you !
Just the perfect reminder of a call I need to make !
How did you know ?
I think your little spirit is sending me a message !
But that doesn't surprise me.

This is certainly a lovely write from you.
Oh, yeah ... like the all aren't !

Happy New Year to you, my friend.
I love you.

Liz--so strange after years and distance have passed, the voice remains unchanged and caught with your golden thread that binds and reminds and always remembers the feeling.  I love this poem!

What a wonderful thing it is to get a call from an old friend. It fills the heart with such happiness and you've described it here in such a beautiful poetic way.
"But nothing breaks a friedship laced
With golden threads so finely placed.
And all that matters in the end
a little whisper now and then."
Loved this one Elizabeth and I hope you get so many more friendship whispers... have a happy new year!     ethome

So beautifully written Liz ... you've captured the feeling, the mood and the reality that warms your heart when this type of call rings through from the past ... lovely sentiments!

Best wishes,
/Kit
