The softest notes of nightengale,
..as gentle breath of dawn,
Float in whisper on night's breeze,
...'mid songs of heaven's spawn.

How sweet the music of the heart,
...doth echo truer far,
Than madrigals of Muses fair,
...sang from a distant star.

Not a harp, nor zephyr heard,
...when dream of scented Rose,
But softest note of nightengale,
...as bloom in my heart grows.

Cecilia sings to gods on high,
...afloat on evening's mist,
Whilst below in Rose's arms,
...I am by heaven kissed.

I gaze upon her satin bloom,
...am touched by petal's dear,
While Venus sings to gods above,
...tis nightengale I hear.

I seek not the stars above,
...nor pine for midnight's moon,
'Tis only Rose that I desire,
...for whom my heart doth swoon.

Carry me not, to heaven's far,
...beyond this earthly portal,
For in my heart, lives precious bloom,
...my Rose, my love immortal.

Marge...sheesh...you didn't realize you are a rose Marge? we men sure know it... I just happened to find my rose a bit farther north.
Thank you for enjoying my poetry.
Irish Rose...more important than writing is feeling, and if your man doesn't feel it, then it is his loss.  Thank you for the wonderful reply.
Sven...I really appreciate the comment, the "I'm with them too" comment gave me slight pause (hehe)
glad you liked.
Catalina...Thanks ever so much for the extremely gracious reply.  May your New Year bring you peace and joy.
Janet Marie...you trying to say I'm ancient? hehe...  hate to tell you this youngster, but your poetry compares with anyones, including this old fogeys.  I always appreciate your wonderful replies.  Thank you.

forgot to put this in my library...
LOL at your reply ...
Not "ancient"  ... a classic ...
and as for the youngster/old fogey ...
I'd be willing to bet we were born in the same century ...
I just act like a 2 year old
thanks for the kind words
now lets see if my senile brain will remember to check the box this time
later

This is so wonderful to read love poetry
that is true and to witness such love
each day in your verses. You are both so fortunate to have this gift. I enjoyed this
immensely. It is exquisite

Here I thought you wrote this for Irish [Rose] and I was a tad late in reading, but then again, do we not save the best for the later evening reading? Well, some do...

Mike, I have to put this in my library, because it is something to be studied and revered, so that someday, I might write like you...

well done, Kind Sir..., verily well done...and beautiful too...
