I don't ask for much in life..
I'm not that hard to please.
My wants are few....I've never had
A need for luxuries.
Some men need wealth and fancy toys
But, as for me, I find
The one thing I require the most
Is having peace of mind.

My mind is like my sanctuary
That's where I reside
And, when I enter my front door,
I leave the world outside.
My home is where I can relax
And let myself unwind
With wine, perhaps, or music that
Will give me peace of mind.

I don't have time for anyone
Who likes to snarl or snap
Nor worry that some word I speak
May land me in a trap.
Derrogatory accusations
I leave far behind.
I won't allow another to
Destroy my peace of mind.

You want to share my world with me?
I think I'd like that, too.
The answer is quite simple....all
You really have to do
Is give respect and kindness
And I will respond in kind.
My love is yours forever if
You'll grant me peace of mind.

Its really hard to get peace of mind nowadays. With this "modern" world we live in, its hard to imagine a moment of peace and quiet.

You most definately have my respect ... and kindness is very easy to offer to you Michael. Wonderful words you've penned ... and ones that I relate so very much to for I lose the sanctity of my sanctuary far too often some days. Loved this, and I think I will print this one to remind me how important this is ... thank you.

Best wishes,
/Kit

'Deer, this is wonderful, peace of mind, mmmm such a blissful idea. Not that I'm a restful soul to have about, but at least I'm entertaining love. No one, even my sisters who will blacken my character a the drop of a hat, agree that I'm entertaining.
I really love this one absolutely excellant love. One of your extra special writes, outstanding
Take care

i know this poet who's not very well known... LOL... and once she wrote that all she wanted was "a little peace without the crack" ... so if anyone truly understands and empathizes with this one, michael... it would be her, er... me... and finding that peace of mind could make my head spin!!!... *wink*

this poem is wonderfully written (as usual) and i pray you will always have that very precious peace of mind....it's not easy to find it sometimes with all the daily stresses of life and the occasional surprising whirlwinds but.... all things work out for the best eventually.....thanks for this passionately phrased verse... and for all you are, 'deer sweet Poet!

love your writing!

'Deer
you wrote my heart when you wrote peace
it's all I want, demon surcease
you wrote my mind with your pen
I'd like to know this peace again
you wrote my soul in your write
no thoughts to entrap me in the night
now I seek your peace of mind
in your advice I'll try to find
the peace you have that sets you free
I'll work hard on improving me.

Peace you, be true
Keth

ahhhh... peace of mind. No better place to dwell. That secret place of escape. A door that we ourselves hold the key to, by the things in life we choose.
Good poem.

Jesus spoke of peace he said "My peace I give you" He knew how important it was and is.  He gave us many things...love, hope and charity..but He spoke of peace many times in subtle tones, perhaps, but He was (I think) telling us that only lasting peace comes from Him.  And maybe from those He lives inside of. For those He dwells inside of..... we are HIS sanctuary.  Bless you.< !signature-->
