~The Tender Rose~

A red rose in wintry snow,
tossed in the still of the night
~hold her close~
though her petals cut like a knife covered in ice

Moments in love prick the heart as thorns
in bittersweet pain, it bleeds and stains the bitter snow

Red rose, birth a flame within
sweet whispers in the dark will melt a tender heart

Yes, beautiful, I love yellow roses, myself but this is wonderful.

Deb this is lovely..such sharp, vivid imagery
much impact in the visions of the rose and ice and colors on the snow..
very well done.

Beautifully done, Deb! Even though it can bring pain, we still long for the love!

Deb my friend, this is beautifully penned to show the power.  Yes, it can be painful but it can also be as beautiful and tender as the rose.  Loved the imagery in this one alot.

A life with love will have some thorns, but a life without love will have no roses.
