The streets are bare – the traffic light
It has been that way – since early last night
A check of the forum – posts moving down slow –
Traffic light here too – wouldn’t you know

Most with their families - it’s to be expected
Many forget – some are neglected
Alone in a crowd– or alone by yourself
It doesn’t matter – you feel ‘on a shelf’

So here’s to the lonely – I’ve been there I know
And I wouldn’t be here – if I weren’t alone now
I know what I’d like – to be cuddled together
Just one on one – ignoring the weather

But in hours too short – I’ll be back with the mob
Hearing shouts of laughter and occasional sobs
Sons, daughters and grandkids yelling and screaming
“I didn’t get this” or “I must be dreaming”

I love them all make no mistake
But sometimes I wish they’d just give me a break
She’s centered on kids- loves them all with a passion
A passion once mine – used to be her fashion

Anyhow it is Christmas – one more joyous Yule
And so we remember the old golden rule
So I will be there – and bless all with love
And pray it too comes down from God above

Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes.

it's funny how the holidays are supposed to be joyous, but oftentimes people have expectations greater than what can be and it's very stressful....

all that said.... your poem says it better...

and now I'll just say...

Merry Christmas, Bill!!!!

Even though a decade is past,
memories of you will forever last.

Merry Christmas, Bill...
