Salad Days Virginia Salter the salad of the day for just a bit of pay heaped up highly falling over slyly which way to tackle it that’s the big question if I eat much of it I’ll get indigestion the salad of the day can’t give it away peas are floating on the spinach bacon’s coated with cream finish sliced eggs mounded high eat a bit, then heave a sigh ‘spargus spears snipped and draggin’ in the dressing, leaves are saggin’ look at her she’s feeling bloated one more bite she’ll be exploded won’t you have a heart, dear friend, take a bite so this can end! mushrooms sliced and lazy layin’ time to do some real fine prayin’ stomach’s ‘bout to pop, fine sir come on, fella, give a stir oh, well, just throw it out no one’s gonna sit and pout eatin’ more? just can’t abide it’d be sure herbicide! © October 8, 2000 |
