It is the time to gather seed,
as winds blow brisk, from Northwest.
A garden dies beneath the weeds,
as now, my tears, replace my sweat.
I pray that it will be enough--
a sorrow's flood upon the soil,
to overflow from salt-rimmed cup,
and loose this clay, 'pon which, I toil.
An agony of Autumn's greet--
a gaze upon a gray cloud sky...
still, I welcome sweet reprieve,
while plucking flowers that have died.
The ground is wet with my regret.
Next spring, I'll plant the best one yet.

whoa little one...there's far more to this than the eye first sees...

and I appreciate all of the innuendo that lies beneath the soil...

very well done...

serenity, this sonnet (I think its a sonnet)
is so wonderful. So layered with meaning I can't fathom and may never....

You are such a poet for a Hedonist.... lol.

Thank you Karilea, I appreciate your kindness as always...

Parker--'tis indeed my attempt at Shakespearian sonnet, although the theme, I think is not to standard...but thank you, have been wondering where you've been...HUGS

Thanks for popping in Chris!  it's always a joy to hear from you...really, I mean that sincerely.  No freaking sarcasm, okay?

And thank you, Victoria, I am so relieved that your REPLIES are not disappearing!!!  LOL and hugs, lady!

My dear friend I am back among the living and I am greeted with a beautiful verse(sonnet) from you.  Tis wonderful and I DO BELIEVE that the next garden WILL be the best ever.  With tears as sweet as yours how could it not be.  Wonderful my friend.

ahhh me sweet is "playing with poetry" again...
and what a lovely sonnet this is ...
wisdom kissed as well ...
for no matter how hard we toil ...
nature will undo all we've done ..
but then offer renewal with the changing of the seasons.
me thinks we need to hibernate with our muses for winter
then bloom as poetry poppies come spring.
wonder what would happen if i watered me garden with raspberry tea
love this one me sweet sen
you too
