I wander through
   this empty house
Touching old memories
   the pain still fresh
I dont know why
   you echo here
You've never been
   in this old house
At least not in
   the physical sense
But you spent countless
   hours here in my heart
Now I want to start
   on the journey to forget
I know there is a path
   out of this pain
I know it wont always
   be this sharp
But right now your
   face is all I see
And your voice still
   sings to my heart
Its not that I think
   you'll come back
I'm not sure I'd say
   yes if you did
I'm just trying to set
   my feet on this journey
This journey that leads
   to forget
And maybe one day
   your memory
Will only bring smiles
   not tears
And maybe one night
   I wont whisper your name
As I let pain slowly
   fade into sleep
And maybe there will
   come a new love
A love that wont
   fade with the dawn
But for now all I see
is a long road for me
To heal my heart
   with a journey to forget.

Great poem as always. You describe such misery yet with a drip of hope.

I'm on the same journey...I wish you luck and more happiness in the future.   Very well written...

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

Paula-I understand when you say "You echo here", very powerful and sensitive statement.  I loved your words.
