The Genie of Time

Wishing, hoping are lamps with a prime
All of us rub the genie of time.
Given to us when first we are born
Stays with us till our very last dawn.

Our very last dawn, our very last morn
Time will exist till then it is sworn.
And non can say on the very last day
They changed their minds and they want to stay.

Your path of days flows only one time
Life is the bell and you are the chime.
Yours is the song and you sing it solo
So if I were you I'd be Marco Polo.

Some fade quickly some play the game
Happy or sad, non are the same
Then words are left a gift of the mind
Markers to those who still stay behind.

A marker may read, to all of the brave
Use your genie, not as a slave.
You've already won your beat on the drum
Think of the multitudes never to come.

Use it well with thought and with grace
And clean it up for the next one in place.

Sy......
This is marvelous!! I love the thought of leaving markers behind, that must fulfill every poet.....knowing that his words will still be here, even if he's not.
Thank you for sharing this great poem!!

Wonderful! I like the last 2 couplets. This is all so true, and an imaginative way of expressing it.
