First I have to say that the start of this poem was given to me by a very dear friend. I hope he feels I have done justice to his words and that the message he inspired reaches his heart

With a handful of memories
And a pocketful of dreams
She sets out to find her way
Running from her childhood
With a headful of steam
Determined she would find a brighter day
She doesnt know what she's looking for
She only knows it isnt here
But no matter where her search may lead her
She knows no price to pay is to dear
To start a new life
To be a new her
Without the shadows of the past
To fly on wings untouched
To be free of all that haunts her
And the things she wants so much
So with her hands full of fading memories
She throws them all to the wind
And with her pockets full of bright new dreams
She takes the gift of him

Thank you my friend

Paula,If I said well done, the words would not be enough. So...
Scattered to the winds are now the memories
first loving to take their place, that's how it should be
with no regret and shining hope re-writing history
so that from the the past long gone, passion sets her free.

but it is the loss that shapes the image,
gathers the flowers weaves the garland."-
