Backdoor Birdie
~*Marge Tindal*~

Quietly through the alley
she makes her way each clock's morn
long before the sun
comes up to kiss the dawn

Enters without knocking
for she holds the key
to fit the locks of many doors
in quiet sanctity

She flits about the chapel
chirping her little songs
Quietly secures the doors
before she skips along

Invisible to many
who have never met her face to face
They only find the cleanliness
she signs across God's place

Backdoor Birdie didn't show today
something was quite wrong
Seems a monster lurking in the alley
silenced Birdie's sweet song

They'll turn out for Backdoor Birdie
in the Chapel Of The Hills
To sing her praises, way too late
How sad this one feels

Marge....
I loved this......even with the poignant ending!!  What a nice story.....and it's one about someone who does what I call an 'invisible' service, everybody sees her work, but they won't notice it until it's gone.     Thank you, my friend......

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Aw. Marge, I thought it was a golf poem

It was beautiful, however

Ahhh Marge a beautiful reminder to us all to not ignore the little things that go on in our lives to make it so much better.  One who does the services that we so often just take for granted should know of our happiness in comfort because of them, yet it seems that the only time we think about it is when we find something wrong or in a case like this.  You teach us so much in your words and give us a little bit of YOUR heart in the process.  You are a tender loving soul and this cowboy will forever cherish you.  Hugs

Sunny1~
Thank you for your kind words.
She was special to many of us and yet,
many of our congregation knew her not.

Vicky~
Thank you for your sweet reply.
This one was hard, but she deserved to have
it written for her.

Balladeer~
And she was also 'beautiful'.
Thank you.

MarkB~
Her name was Bertie Purdue ...
She was the sentinel of the sanctuary
of God's house.
She will be greatly missed by us.
Thank you, Mark.

Marge~
My friend, this is absolutely beautiful.  What a lovely tribute.  I knew someone who was like that, and I took them and all they did for granted until one day they were gone, too.  That was when I realized just how special they were and how much they did do for me and many others.  Thank you so much for reminding me that we should always be thankful for every little thing and for every person, and for reminding me that nothing special should ever be taken for granted.

Love Ya, my dear friend,

Tracie~
Thanks for stopping by to read this one.
Sad ... yes ... but she was a lady that is missed.

TerryW~
I'm glad to see you catch this one.
It's so good to see you here with us.
Yes, there are people who seem invisible ...
until they aren't here anymore.
But they mattered to someone ...
and Birdie mattered to me.
Love ya'
