Things are Different

The sunlight should be streaming through the trees
Illuminating every crimson leaf
The swallow should be chirping in the breeze
And not sit silently upon the sheaf

The mountain should be lined with golden light
A halo of the setting autumn sun
Your fingers should be pressed around me tight
While strolling through the field as we have done

I should have noticed bronze and purple bloom
The geese in silhouette against the sky
I should be longing for the harvest moon
To mirror it’s romance within my eye

The willows should be whispering my name
But somehow, darling , you are not the same

Oh, Liz, this brings tears and much care - such a poem - such feeling!  Lovely, poignant, haunting poem!

This is so well written; I can feel the longing and the questions.

Elizabeth,
A poignant piece , art-fully crafted as usual. Oh , did I say that I liked it very much too ?

Elizabeth,
I don't know how I missed this wonder.
Loneliness can make things strange
Pain can often rearrange.
But some things will never change.

I'm reading this and applying it to the many seasons we go through because this feels familiar.  So very well written.    Marcy

Elizabeth, these are wonderful words to read but they tell a sad tale.

Thanks
