The car's parked outside;
It's obvious I'm inside.
So why do you act
As if the lights are out
And no one is home?

How can you look me
In the eye
And see nothing
When there's a heart
Full of love?

I stand before you,
Helpless to saving your emotions;
There's nothing I can do
But try to make you remember
The sacred lyrics.

I can play the music,
I can even sing,
But I can't bring back
The emotion that lived
Inside your heart so long ago.

Whatever may come,
And it will,
I can only say
That I tried
To make you love me.

Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'it might have been.' -John Greenleaf Whittier

Oh....you guys are killing me t'nite...
If I don't stop laughing and crying in front of this screen I'm going to be in therapy soon.

This is a simple plea of the heart and I found it very touching...so I popped in to offer a HUG....nice work.

"I can play the music,

But I can't bring back
The emotion that lived
Inside your heart so long ago."

Such tender and touching sentiments Snowpants.  It is indeed so difficult to bring back the emotions of the past ... but I love the positive and hopeful aspects you've penned within this sorrow. Hugs to you ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

Oh, yes, you are living in the same pain as I am, I think. This is so similar to my feelings, and it's true, at least we can say we tried, and offered love.
And if it is denied, then what do we do? I wish I knew.
Take care.

Must be that time of the year my friend.  It is hard to live a love that is not shared and the more you live it and the other hides from it the deeper the pain.  Wishing the best for you and oh yes, (go mets)  Figured I would root for them now as they have truely earned it and my team is on the way home.  You will have your poem in orange and blue as promised my friend..so scoot over and make room for me in the Met's section.

serenity:  thanks for the HUG!!  Glad you liked it!!

Daniel:  and thank you, too, for the bearhug!  It's a great comfort!!

denise:  thanks for reading!  glad you enjoyed!

Kit:  and, of course, thanks to you, as well, for the hugs!  I'm glad you liked it!

Sandra:  there isn't much we can do, except offer our all, then live our lives, just as we deserve to do.  thanks for stopping by!

Coco:  thank you, TOO, for the hugs!  I think I'm almost overwhelmed with comfort tonight from such wonderful friends!

Mark:  no, I didn't forget you.  I figured I'd leave my response to you until last.  I must say, you are definitely classy in defeat.  Wonderful trait.  Something I'm not so sure I possess.  And, there is PLENTY of room on the Mets bandwagon!  Especially tonight!!!  and, thanks for reading my poem, too!  glad you enjoyed it!  look forward to reading yours!!     (lots of respect to the Cardinals, and many, many thanks, too, for SMASHING the Braves for us this year!  Great team!)
