Moment of Truth
Amy M. Kennedy

Closing my eyes ever so tight... I try to breathe in the essence of you
This choice weighing on my mind... I'm not sure what to do
Looking up at the silent moon... I just let the tears fall down my cheek
I know in my heart you and your love... are all that I seek
But if only things were easy... and so much pain hadn't been found
As I sit here on this Saturday night... my breaking heart the only sound
Should I release you, ... just the thought sends cold pain in my heart
However, I want to be fair to you... so perhaps the best thing is for us to depart?
So many unanswered questions... lay heavy on my mind tonight
I am tired and my young heart aches... I am not sure how much more I can fight
At what cost, do we fight for this... when obstacle after obstacle gets in the way
I silently close my eyes again... praying for the dawning of a bright new day
Maybe tommorrow I'll be stronger... and the answers will be more clear
All I know is right now... my heart is consumed with unbearable pain and fear
Is this the price of loving... have I done something so terribly wrong
Was I a fool from the beginning... or is this how it was suppose to be all along
I know this is hard on you... I hear it in your voice since I can't see your face
But please know it is equally hard on me... I wish I had more of your grace
To those here at Passions... it is my moment of truth and trust
I am completely in love with this person... as you can see, it is not lust
However, many would not approve of this love, and condemn it to hell
But it was not by choice really... that my heart took this tumble and fell
I am not in love with a man... many however think I should be
I am in love with my best friend,... who is a woman and she is with me
I don't blame some of you... if you never talk to me again
But then I guess I'll forever know ... who is and isn't my true friend.

Oh Amy ... I can only imagine how difficult this was to write, and to post. You've written your feelings so deeply from your heart as always. No one person can sit in judgement of another's love. Keep writing and posting Amy, and I'll keep reading. Take care of your heart.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Aimie, first let me say that this is an amazingly well written poem. Clearly written by your heart. As for your love, I truly believe that love no matter what or for whom cannot be wrong. It might offend some peoples senses, it might not be how they would wish to live their lives, but that doesn't make it wrong. There is a line in the bible, that says let he who is without sin cast the first stone. No one can or should make judgements on anyone else, the only person who can make those judgements is the one affected directly by those judgements. I also believe that friends don't turn their backs on people who need them, please I'd be proud to call you my friend.
Take care and know that those who understand will not try to tell you what to do.

when I saw the title I knew ...
do you know HOW PROUD of you I am ..
AMY this is so brave and honest and strong and every adjective I can think of ...
I have been hoping you would set your self free for the longest time ...
because there IS NO SHAME in this ...
and the walls of love in this room will never judge you ....
I know there are many obstacles and it will never be easy... but when something is worth having.. it is worth fighing for...
and in time ... ALL THAT IS MEANT TO BE...
will be made clear ...
you already know ALL my feelings about this so I wont babble on here...
but before I hush.... I want to say one
last thing...
right now... there is an angel in Heaven who is so proud of you and the strong woman you have become ...
I know she is the reason you are so brave and strong ...
keep fighting for your heart Amy ...
no matter what happends ...
you HAD to allow your self this freedom ...
wings to fly my sweet friend..
YOU just gave them to your self ...
let your love be the wind beneath them ...

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding ...
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Amy, I know that this was hard for you and I will not stand in judgement of you. I know what it is to be "IN" love and I know that I could not stop loveing my butterfly just because some may say it is wrong so I do know where you come from in your love.  I applaud your bravery in releasing this burden from yourself and I truely hope now you find some peace within and comfort in no longer having to carry a burden of silence.  Hugs to you my friend.  Now and forever.

Amy---You be true to you.  I'm proud of you, lady...love is never something to be ashamed of...and these words are poignant in that they are so true and obviously from your heart...you take care, okay?  and a pretty smart guy told me once, simply, be yourself.

Amy. . .

What an amazing poem. . . the love in your heart and the courage and strength that it took for you to do this are incredible. . .

To echo my friend serenity, "love is never something to be ashamed of". . . we will stand behind you, we will be here for you. . . simply because we love you. . . and because you're you. . . that's all. . .

So take heart, take care, and take courage. . . for the road will be long, and the way hard. . . but know that your friends will always be behind you. . . caring and loving. . .

Amy,

This was a beautiful and touching piece here.  You have written from the heart with honesty and sincerity beyond compare my friend.  This was wonderful and I commend you for having the courage to post this piece.  You should be proud.  We do not get to choose who we love, but I agree with the others that this is nothing to be ashamed of.  You have spoken from the heart and that is something you should never apologize to anyone for.  Nice writing.

Of course, I will still be your friend.  Your work has always been a favorite of mine.  We seem to have a knack for conveying each other's thoughts.  Take care my dear friend.

Oh sweet Amy-girl*
I know how hard this must have been for
you...let me assure you that there is
nothing that you could ever say that would
for a moment remove you from the spot in my
heart that loves you and accepts you for the
person that you are...100% no questions
asked.  You are and will always be in my
eyes an angel walking the earth, Hugs to you
my dear friend. This took the courage of a
VERY strong woman and the heart of a very
beautiful person...that's all that I see
when I read this...and nothing less than you
have ever given~
