I am what you'd call divorced..
Oh the struggles I've been through.
But now that it's all behind,
I find I don't miss you.

Material things meant nothing.
I was quick to let them go.
Where I was headed, at the time,
I only need dough.

Yeah it's true, I got a few bucks,
but is it ever really enough?
The only way that I got that,
was to play dog-gone rough.

Now that all's been said and done,
and the past has become a ghost.
My guitar, ( Martin D28 )
Is what I miss the most.

The one thing that I loved,
I played that guitar every day.
I miss thoes low, sweet sounds.
And so you kept it, to make me pay.

You knew that it would hurt me,
and Mr. A-hole you were right.
I can't afford another one,
and I'm glad you're out of my sight.

Oh, the words I would have for you,
and I'd sink my foot so far.
But I would say the nicest things,
if you'd give back, MY guitar.

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!

a beautiful expression of your bottled frustrations! i wish i knew how to play a guitar, but i feel bad that you know how to play and you are guitarless. i do hope his karma kicks in so that some justice is done here. you should start a donation fund to get a new guitar! "please donate to the Men and Women without Music Fund! it's a tax write off!" =)
good luck, and great work. i hope that maybe this will go from being a poem to being a song someday soon.

Everyone's got their demons.
We all got somethin' to atone for.

Um, with permission hopefully granted by Irie--(our resident eye-poker)  POKE THAT A-HOLE IN THE EYE!!!  and I do understand, I've a lovely little Takamine...she's my pride and joy...but sigh of sighs..."he" just got a Fender strat that is making my eye roam...but a Martin...ooohh.  They sing pretty...my heart goes out to you...hugs. Now, I've got to 'ramble on'....smile.

Thank you Ethan_Halo for feeling such compassion for me. It is a hurt that I have to live with, but as you said maybe someday
my poem can and will become a song. I may never own another guitar but I sure do have sweet memories of my Martin.

serenity, Thanks for understanding my need
to POKE the "keeper of MY guitar"..It's really sad that some people hve to stoop to such behavior. If he can live with it , then I'm sure trying to live without it..(guitar, that is) ;-)
Keep a SHARP eye, you never know what's around the corner..;-)

It seems that your guitar was very important.  I sure you played sweet music on it too.  Maybe if you confront him, maybe you guys can work out a deal for the guitar.  Ya know, men do not like to see ladies cry.  Put on a good one, you may get it back.  It appears that he has no use for it.  Did you take something that he valued.  Offer it in return as a good faith gesture.
