Some time after mom died dad shared
this with me. He told me he no
longer cared for their
laws... He was
going to see
mom no matter
what they said. Three years
later he’s still driving to be with her.

So I wrote this

* * * * * * * * * * *

days seemed to dwindle

he saw fewer and few one day came
they in lapsing all together and another
came too only words remained the once
elated spirit which was caring to tinder

cries now wears glasses o’er his
weary eyes. Then they told

him... he could
no longer
drive.

Writing,
isn't just something I do...
it's something I am... To write of feelings
that touch all hearts in some manner is
my greatest delight...

Lucky, the bond of father and son shines within your words. Nicely done.

Martie,

I knew it was wrong... but I'd sure never tell him so... that's my momma. You are ever a dear. love you sis

Rob,

It's not as I would wish it. Dad and I are so much alike, you know the real rural reclusive. Doesn't talk much even to me. These are rare words. thank you... dale

My dad was equally devastated when mom died - it was 5 years before he thought about dating  and by the time he got up courage - he died a month later  this is beautifully expressed Dale

Lucky~
You have to know this touches me tenderly.
What endearing thoughts ...
to think he loved her so much.

You've got the softest heart I know.
And that's a really good thing ...
