A warm fall day
The color changes
Mostly still to come
I view sunlight filtering
Through Poplar leaves
Sparkling on dewdrops
Enhancing some autumn colors
Just beginning to peek
Among the deep greens
Calmness pervades me
Soothing my soul
Till I smell cider
Cinnamon sugared fried cakes
As far removed from Dunkin
As Pate from Kentucky chicken
And I revel in the season

'Cinnamon sugared fried cakes'

Now ya' done gone and made me HONGRY !
Flip those sugar cakes this way !

Now I have to stop reading and fix something to eat.

This will carry me through the rest of October.  The images are fresh, the wording made me hungry for a candied apple. Good poetry does that you know!

Anyone who is passionate about lovemaking AND nature, has got to be a kindred soul to me!  Ask my husband - he'll tell ya.

Beautiful images for my soul.

If I were not sitting upon this season, this verse would make me desperately wish for it. After reading, I can feel the grass on my toes and the apple burning on my tongue. This was a wonderful read, Thank you Wilfred!

Bill
I love the sights and smells of this poem.
What visions of autumn you spin. As soon as the sun comes up, I'll go out and take a look.

Rosemary -
I thought ALL poets - (as part of the 'artistic' establishment) were by definition 'passionate'   - but you're right - those are the top 2 I'm passionate about   Thank you!

Doreen-
ANY non-negative response from you - Is High praise to this hubmle would-be poet - Thank you

Elizabeth Cor-
Each season brings its beauties and sensory pleasures again and again fresh and new - to keep our souls alive - Thank you

Temptress -
You are too kind - (to tell the truth I felt like a 'hack' writing greeting card verse when I completed this) The responses tell me otherwise - so I must say thanks!

Liz-
If I've pleased you - it is but a very partial repayment for the pleasures your poetry has given me - thank you

Serenity-
Bless you for your kind words - thank you so much

Paula - Tracie -- CocoBaci-

I truly appreciate your responses - While living in the Detroit area there were at least two cider mills that preserved the feel and flavor of Fall as I always want to remember it - a real water wheel to power the press and candied apples, fried cakes, and cider galore! Thank you

Cinnamon sugared fried cakes
As far removed from Dunkin
As Pate from Kentucky chicken
And I revel in the season -

I LOVED this stanza - has such a feel of the south to it, and a reminder of how important the sense of smell is to memory.
