Boot+Kitty=Poetry in motion

An ordinary person, nondescript in many ways,
Contemplative of my role in life, the passing of my days,
I've yet to gain an understanding of the acerbic counter phrase,
To my words of mirth and jest, of my inane escapades.

I've written of boats with trailers plowing about the lakes,
Of moonlight drives with lovers who give the cops a break.
Of airline flights, pepper allergies, and a woman with long legs,
And in what ensued, I've wondered, were they all mistakes?

I've lauded those who could not be here, not letting their memory fade,
Keeping alive the hope they would return to write again someday.
And though the times between their postings I filled with words of praise,
I wonder now what it is I wrote that earned lines that eviscorate.

Was it the empathic support and encouragement that I so freely gave,
For the broken hearted who needed strength to help them through their day?
Or maybe the words of wisdom that I've been blessed with along the way,
That taught me there are no whites and blacks, only many shades of gray?

Whatever the reason may be my friends, I sometimes wonder if I can take,
Lines that often seem too harsh for the poetic ripples of my wake.
And it's in those times I realize that it's better for my own sake,
To rest my pen, step back and take a sabbatical-length break.

My muse won't let me keep my pen silent for very long - but I think I need to rest awhile.

LngJhn - I know I don't pipe up often (I'm 'fraid of y'all  ) but I always read your escapades. I always smile or laugh, depending on who's being.. uhh... immortalized... Thank you for that. I think everyone has to take a break every once in a while. We know you'll be "back..." who else would kick the kitties?

LngJhn,

I don't have much time today but I had to leave a quick response.  I hope to see you back soon.  I have been slow in discovering you talent, but now that I have found it I will miss it.  Take care and come back to us soon.

Dear LgnJohn,

I hope someone (wasn't me, was it?) hasn't offended you, you are too sweet and too fantastic a poet. Don't let anyone get you down!

*kitkat-tears*

i bet you never thought that i
would cry when you had said good-bye
not that i didn't hate it when
you kicked me hard and then again...
but sailor, let me tell you, sweet,
my feline life is incomplete
without defenses to your name,
just being here is not the same.

perhaps i should pick up my box
and take it to some distant docks
where ships are sailing out to sea
and see if you will soon find me.
no longjohn words that kick a cat???
oh, my, i know not where i'm at!!

*sob

beware pandora's box...

Hey salty dog... you're allowed a 20, but after that it's double time.  I've seen Toerag's name pop up two times too many and God knows he can't be allowed to roam free without his handler near by.  I know Southern would like the job of handling him, but I don't think she's strict enough.  Enjoy any breather you care to take... just don't stop breathing and we'll catch ya on the flip side.

Now, why is it I'm stuck on the line about the lady with the long legs and grateful you placed it there, because I'm only 5'3"
Good job!

Good evening Sir, remember me, that little tart?..*g*

Ooops, for anyone reading, that was what this guy called me when he first met me over 2 years ago...*g* and although being british I thought he was insulting me, he was calling me one of those funny little tarts you out in your mouth...ROFL

I digress....I'll forgive you for taking a sabbatical, cause I'm generous like that...*g*

Just wanted to let you know that I thank you for taking the time you do with me....You're a pleasure Sir and extremely kind and thoughtful...thank you for being my friend.

Give my love to Susan..

Well expressed LngJhn ... and as always, you incorporated excellent cadence and rhyme in this piece.

Although I do enjoy your amusing poems, I have been pleased to also read those posts where your serious insights or thoughts have come to light. In your work, be it amusing, or of a serious nature, your genuine talent shines through. I wish both you and Lorelie well, and sincerely hope to see you back again soon.

Best wishes,
/Kit

I was only trying to have fun, and I've run you off?

I hate to see you go LJ, you know HOW much you'll be missed. We need your good sense of humor here. And you know, you did try to lighten it up in here and you did just that. You brought me many good laughs, and I don't care what they say about you,   you're a great guy!

PLEASE HURRY BACK!!!!

okay so you take a sabbatical with Balladeer and I will stay here and wait for both of you to return.  You have earned a rest and I too feel that point is coming to me but I am trying to hang on and just slow it down some.  I will have a nice warm kitten waiting for you when you return so that you will have something to keep you warm when your sweet wife isn't with you.  I tip my hat to you as you take this "SHORT" break

Long John,
I'm not crying about this! I'M NOT! oh Well just a little cry. Come back soon.

BTW. You did the a,a,a,a rhyme with finesse and style, I know from your comments how hard that is to do.

Be well
